The New York Times reported that the potential deal would provide a two-year increase in the debt limit and cap on all non-defense and veteran-related federal spending. Spending on the military and some veteran related care would increase next year, while non-defense spending would either fall or stay the same, the report said.

Super Typhoon Mawar - 2023's Most Brutal Storm - Heads For Philippines

Typhoon Mawar has been upgraded to a category 5super typhoon as it becomes 2023’s most violent storm so far, having already battered Guam where it knocked out almost the entire country’s power supply.

Sustained winds are likely to hit 220kph, with the most powerful gusts reaching 265kph, as Mawar heads towards the Philippines with its intensity not expected to drop for at least three days.

Weather experts have reported that Mawar is not one of the five most powerful storms ever recorded in the month of May, while it is increasingly likely to make landfall in China and Taiwan.
